Privacy Policy
How I collect, use and protect the personal information you share with Nurture Postpartum Support. Effective 19 July 2026.
Nurture Postpartum Support (“Nurture”, “I”, “me” or “my”) is a postpartum doula service run by Michelle, serving Christchurch & Canterbury. I take your privacy seriously, and I handle your personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles. This policy explains what I collect, why, how I use and protect it, and the choices and rights you have.
1. Who is responsible for your information
I am the person responsible for the personal information collected through this website and in the course of providing postpartum support. If you have any questions about your privacy or this policy, you can contact me at any time:
- Nurture Postpartum Support
- Email: hello@nurturefamily.co.nz
- Phone: 021 586 079
- Area served: Christchurch, Selwyn, Waimakariri
2. What information I collect
When you send an enquiry through the contact form on this website, I collect only what you choose to give me:
- Your name (required), so I know who I’m talking to.
- Your email address (required), so I can reply to you.
- Your phone number (optional), only if you’d prefer I call or text.
- The type of support you’re interested in (optional), for example daytime, overnight or family support.
- Your due date or baby’s age (optional, free text), so I can understand where you are in your journey. You decide how much to share.
- Your message (optional, free text), anything you’d like to tell me about what you’re hoping for. Please share only what you’re comfortable sharing at this stage.
I also automatically process your IP address for a short time when you submit the form. This is used purely as a technical security measure to prevent spam and abuse (limiting how many submissions can come from one source). It is not linked to your enquiry or used to identify you.
The website does not use marketing, advertising or analytics cookies, and there is no third-party tracking on the public pages. I don’t knowingly collect information from children. This service is intended for parents and caregivers.
3. Sensitive information
Because this is postpartum care, you may choose to share information about your pregnancy, birth, health or family circumstances. You are never required to. If you do share it, I treat it as confidential and use it only to understand how I can best support you. Please avoid sending detailed health information through the website form. It’s better shared directly with me once we’re in touch.
4. How I collect your information
I collect information directly from you, through the website enquiry form, and afterwards by email, phone, text or in person as we talk about your support. I don’t buy or obtain your personal information from other organisations.
5. How I use your information
I use the information you provide only to:
- respond to your enquiry and answer your questions;
- arrange and provide postpartum doula support, including any consultation, bookings and packages;
- discuss funding options with you (for example WINZ or ACC) if you ask me to; and
- keep in touch with you about the support you’ve requested.
I will not use your information for unrelated purposes, and I won’t send you marketing you haven’t asked for.
6. Who I share it with
I do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. Your enquiry is delivered to my private inbox rather than being stored in a public database. To run the website and receive your message, I rely on a small number of trusted service providers who process information on my behalf:
- heliosIT, my website developer and hosting partner, who builds and maintains this site and the technical infrastructure that delivers your enquiry to my email inbox.
- My email provider, where your enquiry arrives and is stored in my inbox so I can reply.
I may also disclose information if I’m required to by law, or where necessary to protect someone’s safety. Otherwise, I’ll only share your information with your consent.
7. Information stored or sent overseas
The infrastructure used to run this website and deliver your enquiry may store or process information on servers outside New Zealand. This means your information may be stored or processed overseas. Where that happens, I take reasonable steps to use providers that protect personal information to standards comparable with the New Zealand Privacy Act.
8. How long I keep it
I keep your information only for as long as I need it for the purposes above: to respond to you and, if you go ahead, to provide and keep a record of your support. If your enquiry doesn’t lead to working together, I’ll delete it when it’s no longer needed. You can ask me to delete your information at any time (see section 10).
9. How I keep it safe
I take reasonable care to protect your information from loss, misuse or unauthorised access. This includes limiting who can see it (your enquiry comes only to me), using reputable providers, and protecting the parts of the website only I can access. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, so please be thoughtful about the detail you include in an online form.
10. Your rights: access and correction
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to:
- ask what information I hold about you and request a copy of it;
- ask me to correct anything that’s wrong or out of date; and
- ask me to delete your information where I no longer need it.
Just email me at hello@nurturefamily.co.nz and I’ll help. I may need to confirm who you are before sharing information. There’s normally no charge, and I’ll respond as soon as I reasonably can.
11. Making a complaint
If you’re ever concerned about how I’ve handled your information, please tell me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the New Zealand Office of the Privacy Commissioner:
- Website: privacy.org.nz
- Phone: 0800 803 909
12. Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time as my service or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. Please check back occasionally so you’re aware of any changes.
